India, led by the silver medalist of the Rio Olympics PV Sindhu, has made a splendid start in the Asia Badminton team championship. Thanks to Sindhu, the Indian team defeated Hong Kong 3-2.
After being removed from the London Olympics bronze medalist Saina Nehwal’s tournament, Sindhu won the first singles match after proving her worth and then along with N Sikki Reddy also won in the doubles match.
By defeating in the India Open final on Sunday, Sindhu defeated Hong Kong’s Yip Pui Yin 21-12, 21-18 in the first singles match. The pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Prajakta Sawant had to face defeat despite offering a tough challenge in the first match of the women’s doubles.
The pair of Enjha Wing Young and Yong Anz Ting defeated Ponappa and Sawant 20-22, 22-20, 21-10. This match lasted for 52 minutes. In the second singles match, Mr Krishna Pudri KudraValli had to face 19-21, 21-18, 20-22 defeat against Chuang Ying Mei in the three-game match. After three matches, the Indian team went past 1-2.
