Badrinath Dham is one of the oldest of Hindu Temple and located at  the right bank of the river Alaknanda in uttrakhand state. 

Badrinath temple is essentially a Lord Vishnu shrine. Badrinath also known by the names Badri Vishal and Badrinarayan, it is one of the Char Dham place of uttrakhand.  Badrinath is vital with reference to travel and tourism in uttrakhand state.

The kapats ( Gates) of the badrinath temple are open only for a period of six month in the whole year, due to heavy snow fall at badri temple. There are a hot water steaming pool that name is Tapt Kund. 

Adi Shankaracharya renewed the temple in 8th century. The temple counstructed into three parts – the ‘Garbha Griha’ the ‘Darshan Mandap’ and the ‘Sabha Mandap’ where devotees assemble. The Garbha Griha portion has its canopy covered with a sheet of gold and it represents Lord Vishnu seated in a meditative pose-padmasan.
