The BCCI has been badly stuck in a scandal involving Mohammed Shami’s annual contract. From COA to the board officials, it is not understood how to reach the final decision on the matter. The board had decided to avoid the decision on this for the first two to three days, but it is now being said that it may take more than a week or so.
Meanwhile, it has also been proposed in the board that by handing over responsibility to someone on their own level, the report should be prepared by talking to both the parties. Based on this, Shami’s Annual Contract can be decided on the basis, but the final seal on this proposal is to appoint COA chairman Vinod Rai.
For the time being, the board has decided to keep an eye on the developments for some days. In the meantime, if the police join, then the board will be able to make a decision, but the problems of Shami will be increased.
A senior official of the board says that the situation is very intriguing. There is a proposal to prepare a report by talking to both the sides in front of the CoA, but the decision has to be taken by them. Shami’s difficulties may increase in that case if the police started investigating the allegations made by his wife.
26 names given by selectors
Last year’s annual contract included 32 cricketers, but this time it was reduced to 26. Board sources say that the selectors have named the names of 26 players instead of 32. That’s why as many players have been given an annual contract. However, the sources also show that some of the names in the list which were given by the selectors were made up-down.
Cricketers can be included in C grade
Sources attached to the board say that 26 cricketers have been included, but if somebody shows them the best performance during this time, then they can be given a place in the C grade. No other tampering will be done in any grade.
