The Odisha Government announced a unique partnership with Hockey India on Thursday. The Odisha government signed a contract with Hockey India for the next five years. Under this agreement, the Odisha government will be the sponsor of the men and women’s hockey teams of India for the next five years. This announcement was made by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in a grand ceremony on Thursday.
On this occasion, the Odisha government also released a new ‘logo’ in the sponsorship form of Hockey India. For the next five years, India’s women and men’s hockey teams will wear this ‘logo’ on their jersey. Hockey India and the government have not disclosed any kind of information regarding the amount of the contract for five years between the Government of Odisha and Hockey India.
Odisha 2018 is the title sponsor of the men’s Hockey World Cup from November 28 to December 16 in Bhubaneswar. On this occasion, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Dr. Narinder Batra, IOA Secretary General Rajiv Mehta, India’s Olympic Olympian Olympian Dilip Tirkey, former Olympian hockey captain Dhanraj Pillai and Viren Rasakinha Senior men and women’s hockey teams, their coach and full sports staff were also present.
